Not trying to hijack yoru post Dave but was wondering how close in color these black limba sets are too ziricote? I was wondering if a Ziricote bridge would coordinate well or just stick out as too much of a difference.

Oh yeah, Dave, don't forget to post pics of what the set you won turns out to be!

Not even close, in color, to any of the Ziricote I have.
similar grain patterns but that's where it ends. I don't think it has the density of ziricote either...zootman know all...maybe he'll chime in.

As I've said elsewhere, the grain patterns, coloration, feel of black Limba is nothing at all like the (one) Ziricote set I have. I mean, they're both stripey, they're both wood, but that's where the similarities end, IMO. Think of Limba as prettier Khaya, or something.

Thanks Dave and Mattia. I can't really tell from the colors I see on my comp. Oh yeah Mattia, I figured they were both similar in that they were wood
for some reason your post made me laughFrankC38856.740462963

Mattea and Dave are right on. The grain pattern does resemble the spider webbing found on Ziricote but thats where the similarity ends. Still very nice tonewood. I have a few more sets here.

Oh, it's a stunning tonewood, and I love it, but it's not a drop-in for Ziricote :-)

I tend to see it as...if Ziricote is "ebony" like, then Limba is "mahogany" like...IMO. I don't know... what does the word "sweet" mean? It's subjective and personal yet positive. Man this is getting "deep"...
